Reconnecting with the Writer

February 17, 2026 by Kit Wyatt

I set out to create this blog to document not just my mental health struggles, my procrastination and goal/task setting issues, gush about the books and shows I love or am loving but to reconnect with the writer within me. Somewhere along the way over the years, I disconnected from that fiery drive to write … Continue reading Reconnecting with the Writer

Honestly, should I be looking into setting up one of those spin the wheel situations to decide what book I’m going to read next because I seriously cannot for the life of me decide on what I’m going to read next when all I really want to read is Cursed City by @kategoldenauthor Happy new release day Tessa Hale! I loved reading this book, it was so delicious and the review will be up soon! So this is a little scary, talking about my mental health and dreams I’ve let sit by the wayside. I’ve been wanting to create a YouTube channel for over 4 years but every time I thought of actually taking the steps to make it a reality, I’d shy away from doing so. I let the fear, anxiety and depression that I struggle with win. Depression has eroded and narrowed so many aspects of my life and as I begin taking steps to start navigating my mental health better I thought of finally creating that YouTube channel that I have wanted for so long. It wouldn’t just be books and writing but also life and health in general and I wondered is this something you’d be interested in following along? I’d love to hear from you. Part 3 of my Prime Day Sales Haul. I meant to post the rest of these up last week but life was lifing. Enjoy! In this one we have the Into the Parallel Omegaverse trilogy by @janehandlerauthor (which I loved - she’s a new favorite!) and The Death Row Club by V.A. Vasquez. What do I read next? Help me Pick! The options are: Gild (Plated Prisoner series) by Raven Kennedy, The Book of Azriel (Gods and Monsters) by Amber V Nicole, Nocticadia by Keri Lake, Hollow by Celina Myers or Pucking Around by Emily Rath. What should I read next? Let me know. What I’ve been reading: I was fortunate enough to read 3 arcs this weekend and devoured them all. Stepping back into Mercedes Lackey’s Valdemar world with the upcoming anthology A Many Splintered Thing was so much fun. I’m also thrilled to be part of @ivy.asher street team and @tessahalewrites influencers! Ignite the Infernos by Ivy Asher and Crown of Crimson and Crows were so very good that I read each book in a day and had so much fun doing so. Part 2 of my prime day sales unboxing. Hope you enjoy. Okay…so I may have gone a little overboard in the prime day sales and the vids may be coming out a little later than I would have liked but I hope you enjoy them anyway. Let’s talk writing processes for a moment. When it comes to writing, I find it very easy and natural to write in 3rd person. However, with the story that’s been simmering away in the back of my mind for a while I can’t help but think that it would be a stronger story and have more a of an emotional impact if I wrote it in 1st person instead. Curious what other writers would do?
